ABOUT

Bridging the gap between creativity and authority

About us

At Nacho Station we are on a mission to help communities create inspired and accessible public artworks that celebrate community identity.

Every neighbourhood has a story.

What better way to tell it than through a vibrant mural – or other artistic display – created by regional (and sometimes metro) artists.

We pride ourselves on bringing these collaborative master pieces to life by being the conduit between creativity and authority.

What we do

  • We take creative ideas and make them reality, through collaboration and inclusion.

  • We understand the creative landscape in regional areas.

  • We provide opportunities to regional grassroots, up and coming and professional artists.

  • We match up the right artists with the right projects, at the right budget … and project manage the process to ensure that everyone is stoked with the end-result.

  • We facilitate collaboration between governments, local councils, funding bodies, corporate clients, not for profits, creative practitioners and the local community, to produce thoughtful activations.

  • We run fun creative workshops that nurture creativity and create artistic opportunities.

How it’s done

Step 1: Fill out our Briefing Form which will help us to understand the project scope.

Step 2: Once we’ve finished gushing about how stoked we are to be working with you … we’ll provide an estimate and develop a project scope with a quick productive chat. We make it easy to understand what you’re getting into before any commitment.

Step 3: Schedule a get together with the project team. We take a deposit payment that commits all parties to the project and blocks out time in our calendar to focus on your project.

Step 4: Map out a clear plan of action to bring your project to life, there’s no need to get bogged down in details … we handle the creative process so you don’t have to!

Step 5: Get cracking and have heaps of fun bringing your creative project to life!

Step 6: Launch! Fair Dinkum, it’s time to celebrate after all the hard yakka. Creating newsworthy activations is something we love to do. Just ask Nacho’s top bloke how much he loves the camera.

Nacho Station’s top bloke

Reece Hendy

Besides having a magnetic personality, Reece is a qualified graphic designer with a passion for all things creative.

Reece was fascinated by street art from a young age and decided early on that he wanted to ‘draw for a living’.

While studying graphic design at La Trobe University, he discovered the joy and power of collaboration, through founding his own magazine where he worked with over 30 artists, photographers and illustrators.

Following his studies, Reece worked for a number of creative agencies in various creative and strategic roles. The Nacho Station brand was launched in 2012 as a ‘side hustle’. After joining an internal marketing team (Apiam Animal Health) as a multidisciplinary creative in 2015, the part-time roll enabled him to start Nacho Station as a ‘propper’ side hustle. By 2019 the side hustle had become a full-on hustle, which is when Reece took the plunge and, in his own words, “went full time nacho”.

Ever since, Reece has made good progress in his quest to make Bendigo a street art hotspot and is now turning his attention to towns around Central Victoria … and hasn’t ruled out taking over the world after that!

Ultimately, however, what gets him up in the morning is seeing how collaborative, creative projects can engage, uplift and reinvigorate communities.

WTF is a Nacho Station?!

What’s that name about?

Just like the work we do, the name Nacho Station, is a great conversation starter!

What we do is fun, so it makes sense to have a playful name.

There is a cheesy (pun intended) story behind how the name came about, which we will be happy to share with you over a coffee.

Learn more about the naming of Nacho Station and founder Reece Hendy by tuning into Country Creatives Podcast.
